Whale watching in Praia do Forte

With a day off from travel, we were chatting at breakfast to someone who had just seen whales up the coast... we left that same morning, and managed to get to lovely Praia Do Forte and get on a tour to see humpback whales do their thing 12 miles off the coast. Amazing stuff.

Sunny Salvador de Bahia

At last, a few days in the same place... so we thought! Salvador is home to Capoiera, Samba, and Carnival. (every day!) Great vibe to the place, street parties every Tuesday (because it´s Tuesday of course!), friday and Saturday.

Start them young... and with a coconut...

Lovely Lencois. Not quite the walking break we were after, but amazing all the same!

Edel managed to find a natural whirlpool that kept her busy for AGES!
After a day of hunting, we finally tracked down the last waterfall on the list... to be honest, it was possibly a little disappointing!

Sun setting from the Pao Ignacio.

Amazing scenery, and miles away from the Amazon!

The Camel rock.

The blue cave. Beautiful light around midday on completely translucent waters.

1km of enormous cave! With all sorts of incredible rock formations.

The natural waterslide. It was bumpy enough on my bum, let alone trying it standing up like the locals do!

Tela classes in the jungle!

Edel testing out the localinsect repellent... covering your hands in biting ants then rubbing them off...

I´m not sure whao was more scared, the caiman or me!

3rd time lucky - not for the piranah though! Mmmmm...

Boat. The only way to get around.

The heaviest rains since 1953 apparently, breaking flood records.

The meeting of the waters where the 2 rivers (of different colours, temperatures etc) meet.
